Several years ago the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., gave the technical library at the Geological Survey of Alabama about 50 feet of archival materials. As part of some volunteer work I'm doing for my MLS at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, I hope to put these materials in order for the first time. I thought it wise to make inquiries before immediately putting it all into a cataloging system where it probably doesn't belong. Can anyone help me with this? --John Jackson _______________________________________________________________________ | | | | JOHN LEJ JACKSON | E-MAIL: | | STUDENT, MASTER OF LIBRARY SERVICE PROGRAM | | | SCHOOL OF LIBRARY AND INFORMATION STUDIES | JJACKSO3 | | UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA | @UA1VM.UA.EDU | | BOX 870252 | | | TUSCALOOSA, AL 35487-0252 |______________________| |________________________________________________|**********************! ========================================================================= Date: Mon, 31 Jan 1994 15:54:28 ECT Reply-To: Indexer's Discussion Group Sender: Indexer's Discussion Group From: Charlotte Skuster Subject: Copyediting listserv There were four messages in reply to question about Copyediting- l. Rather than repeat subscription directions four times..the messages have been combined into one. Charlotte From: rw16@cornell.edu (bob wallace) Copyediting-l has over 350 subscribers from all walks of editing. Discussion has covered confusing grammar rules and the different style books, resources (on-line and otherwise), how to find freelance work, editor/author relationships, and so on. But the only way to know whether it's useful *for you* is to sign on for a couple of weeks and listen (i.e., lurk). To subscribe, send the following command to listserv@cornell.edu SUBSCRIBE COPYEDITING-L VICTOR HUGO (Change Victor Hugo to your own name if you are not, in fact, Victor Hugo.) Carol Roberts rw16@cornell.edu --------------- From: hartleym@ccmail.orst.edu [copyediting-l address deleted] I haven't subscribed, but had recently jotted down the address because it looked like an interesting group. Hope this works. Melissa Hartley Catalog Div., Kerr Library Oregon State University hartleym@ccmail.orst.edu ---------------- [address deleted] I subscribed for a very short time. The messages were very specific to copyediting, and peripheral to the subject of book indexing. I stopped subscribing when I found myself swamped with mail from all the mailing lists I had subscribed to when I first started on the Internet. I recommend you try it out to see how relevant it is to you. The subjects that are being discussed now may be much more relevant to indexing than they were when I was subscribing. Barbara Wurf Indexpert Services BWURF@delphi.com ---------------------------------- From: K.Lyle@sheffield.ac.uk It's a very active list, and I highyl recommend it. See you there. >====================================================================== Kathleen M.
